The Hampstead Heath Open Day

North London BeeKeepers attended the Hampstead Heath open day for the first time this year. It was a beautiful sunny day with temperatures around 28C. Hopefully we will be adding it to the venues we attend through the summer months in future years. We would like to thank the heath authority and the city of London for inviting us.

On the educational level we gave out hundreds of information sheets. There was a glass observation hive with live bees and several experts answering questions about honey bees, bumble bees, honey etc. We were also selling honey from Hampstead heath and the surrounding areas.

The observation hive was very popular. Most of the time people were 2 or 3 deep around it. At the end of the day the 2 expert beekeepers manning it were hoarse having talked nonstop for nearly 6 hrs.

On the left are a few pictures covering a small snapshot in time, over the day we estimate we had thousands of visitors!
