North London Beekeepers [NLB] has been the home of beekeeping since the 1930s for many beekeepers in the London Boroughs of Camden, Islington, Hackney, Haringey, Westminster and parts of Brent and South Barnet.   Our teaching apiary is in grounds close to Kenwood House and Highgate Village.   During 2017 we plan to open an additional apiary.

Our aims are to promote apiculture and to educate the general public in beekeeping by holding classes, lectures and discussions on beekeeping and running stalls at local festivals showing live bees and selling honey.

We provide advice and assistance in numerous ways to beekeeping members of NLB, welcoming beginners, novice and experienced beekeepers to our ‘beekeeping club’.

The North London Beekeepers is affiliated to the “Middlesex Federation of Beekeepers’ Associations” and the BBKA [British Beekeepers’ Association], representing our members at area and national levels.   Beekeepers are supported by the “National Bee Unit”, which comes under the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) and provides Regional Bee Inspectors as well as research teams.   All NLBA beekeeping members are strongly encouraged to register their apiaries on BeeBase which is APHA’s National Bee Unit website.
