Nominations for the Committee

There are a number of members seeking re-election to the NLB Committee this year. 

Please note that any other member who wishes to put themselves forward for the Committee should email their name, together with the names of their proposer and seconder, to the Secretary by Sunday 12th January 2025: secretary@beekeeping.org.uk 

Under the NLB Constitution there can be a maximum of six General Committee Members in addition to the three Officers: Chair, Treasurer and Secretary. The Committee shall have the power to co-opt full beekeeping members, provided that the total membership of the Committee does not exceed eleven members. 

Proposals

Should any member have a proposal they wish to be discussed at the AGM, please email the Secretary by Sunday 12th January 2025: secretary@beekeeping.org.uk 

Guest speaker

After the AGM, at approximately 4pm, you are invited to a talk by Maggie Gill, Senior Research Scientist at PHIRA-Science, a non-profit organisation dedicated to improving the health of pollinators globally through scientific research. Maggie’s presentation will explore the nutritional value of nectar and how this affects pollinator assemblages.

After the AGM, at approximately 4pm, you are invited to Sue Lang’s talk on the history of beekeeping. Sue has been keeping bees for 17 years and is well known as a judge at honey shows. In this talk she describes how bees evolved millions of years ago, how they have thrived over the millennia, notable beekeeping inventions and famous beekeepers.
